Four people charged following an alleged aggravated break and enter – Wollongong

A man will reappear in court today, one of four people charged after an alleged aggravated break and enter at Wollongong earlier this year.

About 12.30am on Tuesday 18 July 2023, five people allegedly forced entry into a home on Scobie Crescent, Bellambi, threatening the occupant – a then aged 19-year-old man – before stealing a Honda motorcycle.

Detectives attached to Wollongong Police District commenced an investigation.

As part of inquiries, officers attached to the Surry Hills Region Enforcement Squad, executed a search warrant at a home on Lily Place, Lalor Park about 7.30am on Tuesday 18 July 2023.

Three men – aged 18, 19 and 20 – and a 17-year-old boy were arrested and taken to Blacktown Police Station.

The 18-year-old man was charged with 13 offences including,

  • three counts of aggravated break and enter dwelling in company steal,
  • Two counts of steal motor vehicle,
  • special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – weapon,
  • drive conveyance taken without consent of owner,
  • drive reckless / furiously or speed / manner dangerous,
  • police pursuit – not stop – drive at speed,
  • possess means of disguising face with intent commit indictable offence,
  • be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner,
  • take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, and
  • hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.

He appeared at Blacktown Local Court on Wednesday 19 July 2023, where he was formally refused bail to appear before Penrith Local Court today (Friday 15 September 2023).

The 19-year-old man was charged with eight offences including,

  • aggravated break and enter dwelling in company steal,
  • two counts of steal motor vehicle,
  • special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – weapon,
  • drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, and
  • be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.

He appeared at Blacktown Local Court on Wednesday 19 July 2023, where he was formally refused bail to appear before Wollongong Local Court on Wednesday 4 October 2023.

The 20-year-old man and 17-year-old boy were charged with four offences including,

  • special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – weapon,
  • aggravated break and enter in company steal,
  • steal motor vehicle, and
  • be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.

The man appeared before Blacktown Local Court on Wednesday 19 July 2023, where he was formally refused bail to appear before Wollongong Local Court on Wednesday 4 October 2023.

The teen appeared at a children’s court on Wednesday 19 July 2023, where he was formally refused bail to appear before a children’s court on Tuesday 10 October 2023.
