FPO service locates drugs, cash and weapons – West Wodonga

Taskforce Echo detectives have charged a patched member of the Bandidos OMCG and seized drugs, cash and weapons while serving a Firearm Prohibition Order (FPO) in West Wodonga today.

A 43-year-old West Wodonga man, believed to be a high-ranking member of the Bandidos OMCG, has been charged with traffick cannabis, possess cannabis, three counts of possess prohibited weapon and deal property suspected proceeds of crime.

The man was bailed to appear at Wodonga Magistrates’ Court on 24 November.

Detectives seized what appears to be cannabis, two pairs of knuckle dusters, a machete, a large knife with a knuckle duster handle and a quantity of cash from the address.

Once issued, an FPO remains in effect for 10 years for adults and five years for children, which is those between 14 and 17 years of age.

During that time, the individual is prohibited from acquiring, possessing, carrying or using any firearm or firearm related item such as ammunition. They are also unable to enter a range of premises including firearms dealers, shooting ranges firearms clubs.

The charges relating to FPOs are significant – 10 years imprisonment for acquiring, possessing, carrying or using a firearm or firearm related item.
