Fraser Island dingo incident update

Please attribute to a Department of Environment and Science (DES) spokesperson:

QPWS rangers on K’gari (Fraser Island) have identified two dingoes who attacked three people on Thursday evening (28 February) near Eurong Beach.

One dingo has been captured and, considering the seriousness of the incident, has been euthanised in consultation with the Butchulla People.

Rangers are currently tracking the other dingo.

Rangers continue to patrol at campgrounds and island arrival points to warn visitors of the dangers associated with dingoes.

Visitors are reminded never to approach or feed dingoes, as this can lead them to becoming habituated.
