Free community dementia education for families in Cairns and Innisfail

Are you caring for a loved one who is living with dementia? Dementia Australia is holding free education courses for residents living in Cairns and Innnisfail.

There are estimated to be more than 82,000 people living with dementia in Queensland and more than 5,400 of whom live in the federal electorates of Leichhardt and Kennedy.

Without a medical breakthrough, the number of people in Queensland living with dementia is expected to increase to more than 116,000 people by 2028 and more than 207,000 people by 2058.

Dementia Australia’s education sessions offer support for Queensland residents living with dementia by providing information to carers who are involved in their care.

Dementia Australia’s Family Carer Course provides information to families caring for someone living with dementia to help with practical strategies for managing day-to-day, to better understand their own needs and the needs of the person they care for.

The course also provides carers with an opportunity to meet with others who are sharing a similar experience, allowing time to socialise and share important links to local support services that can improve well-being.

Registrations for the below courses are essential and specific location details will be provided upon registration.
