A warm spring afternoon with live music, coffee, wood fired pizza, and good company. That’s what’s planned for this Sunday at Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery’s free Live on the Lawn, and you’re invited to be part of it.
Triple J Unearthed’s Zac Slater will headline the live music afternoon, joined by Caitlyn Bannan, Northern Lights, Zoe Pinchen and Callum McNab.
Gallery Director Ian Tully said Live on the Lawn would be a relaxed event, with high quality music.
“Live on the Lawn has become a popular, regular event on our calendar and with warm weather predicted, we hope people will come along and enjoy it with us,” he said.
“If you haven’t been to Live on the Lawn before, this year would be a great one to come to. We’ve got some great local performers, and we’re all looking forward to hearing Zac Slater perform. Of course, if you have been before, we’d love to have you back!”
Zac Slater started his music career at an early age and in the past couple of years has had songs at the top of Triple J Unearthed’s charts and been playing music festivals in Victoria and Tasmania.
Live on the Lawn is free and will be on from 11.30am until 3pm this Sunday, 13 October outside the gallery. Please bring your own chairs or blankets. Wood fired pizzas, cold drinks and coffee will be available to purchase.
Also this weekend, on Friday 11 October, the gallery will launch three new exhibitions.
History and Geography… Works from Pollack Swamp – a collection of works that seeks to document the restoration of the Barapa Barapa people’s site of Pollack Swamp, between Barham and Swan Hill. An ongoing archaeological and environmental project, driven by environmental consultant Dan Hutton, has had surveys undertaken and water delivered in an attempt to rehabilitate this micro riverine habitat, which includes significant Aboriginal village sites and colonial bird breeding habitats.
Montages: The Full Cut, 1999-2015 – presents the full suite of eight montage films by artist Tracey Moffatt and her long-time collaborator Gary Hillberg. Exhibited all together for the first time, these works span 16 years of their collaborative practice, from the first montage work created in 1999 to the latest in 2015.
Big Fish 4 – features outstanding works from VCE students from schools across the region. A must-see for the broader community and particularly aspiring arts students.
Dan Hutton will speak at Friday night’s exhibition launch, which is free and open to all, starting at 6pm.
