Free Microchipping For Penrith Cats And Dogs

Penrith residents can bring their cats and dogs to Penrith City Council’s free microchipping day on Saturday 17 October from 9am to 3pm at Andromeda Community Centre, Cranebrook.

Free pet health checks for cats and dogs are available. The day is a great opportunity to seek advice and ask questions about your pet’s care with Council’s friendly Animal Services officers, or team members from Greencross Vets and the Cat Protection Society.

Pet owners can also request for their pet’s name to be engraved on a free pet ID tag.

Penrith Mayor Todd Carney was excited for the event’s return, especially since Penrith residents take their responsibility as pet owners seriously.

“Microchipping keeps pets safe and is vital to ensuring pets can be identified by Council, vets and animal shelters if they happen to get lost,” Cr Carney said.

“While the day focuses on getting cats and dogs microchipped, we also want to remind pet owners to check that their details on their pet’s microchip are up to date. If you’ve moved house or state, changed your phone number and rehomed a pet, make sure to visit the Pet Registry online or contact Council to have your details updated.”

If you’re unable to make it on the day, visit your local vet to microchip your pet.

If you aren’t sure whether your pet has been microchipped, your vet or Council’s Animal Services can scan your pet.

The event is located at Andromeda Community Centre, 79-81 Andromeda Drive, Cranebrook.
