A truck driver tested positive to drugs on the South Eastern Freeway this morning.
Other truck drivers reported erratic driving on the South Eastern Freeway at Mount Barker about 7am on Tuesday 30 April.
Acting quickly on that information, Police stopped a B-double truck at Bridgewater for a mobile driver test.
The driver, a 60-year-old man from the northern suburbs, tested positive to methamphetamine. He was issued with a direction not to drive and the sample was sent for forensic testing. He was also fined for numerous traffic offences.
Superintendent Mark Fairney, Officer in Charge, Hills Fleurieu Police praised the actions of the other drivers who called police.
“The decision to call police and report the erratic driving potentially prevented a catastrophe.”
Anyone who witnesses dangerous driving behaviour can report it to police via 131 444.
