Fresh look for Sunny Coast entryway, Nambour connector

The Palaszczuk Government has announced a $2.3 million upgrade will start this month (February) to improve safety on one of the Sunshine Coast region’s key roads.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said Bli Bli Road was one of the region’s major entryways from the Bruce Highway and an important connecting roads for residents travelling between Nambour and surrounding areas.

“The Palaszczuk Government is delivering when it comes to roads for the Sunshine Coast, with major upgrades to the Bruce Highway now underway and the recent completion of the $7.8 million Nambour Connection Road upgrade,” Mr Bailey said.

“The Bli Bli Road upgrade will see the section east of the Bruce Highway rebuilt and realigned to improve safety for visitors travelling to the Sunshine Coast and the residents who travel along Bli Bli Road every day to get to work and home.

“This project will also involve widening in key locations, and repairing and replacing existing culverts.

“It’s a great result for our growing Sunshine Coast region, and adds to the Palaszczuk Government’s $4.9 billion investment in infrastructure across Queensland in 2018/19.”

Works will get underway this month and will generally be completed between 7pm and 6am to minimise impacts to motorists and residents as much as possible.

Traffic controllers, reduced speed limits and road signage will be in place to ensure the safety of motorists and road workers, and motorists should observe all signage when approaching the road works.
