Flynn Ward Councillor and local farmer, Liesbeth Long will be elected Mayor of Central Goldfields Shire at a Statutory Meeting on Tuesday 21 November at 6pm.

First elected in 2020, Cr Liesbeth Long is in her third year on Council and will be sworn in as Mayor for the next 12 months – the final year of the current Council term.

We extend our thanks and congratulate our outgoing Mayor Cr Grace La Vella for her leadership, dedication and contribution to Council over the past 12 months.

The Statutory Meeting will be held in person at the Community Hub in Maryborough and is open to the community to attend.

It will also be streamed live to Council’s Facebook page, and a video will be available on Council’s website following the meeting at: www.centralgoldfields.vic.gov.au/councilmeetings

EVENT ROADS

Maryborough will be buzzing next week when our 2023 Energy Breakthrough event kicks off from Wednesday 22 November to Sunday 26 November.

This year’s event is expected to attract:

  • 4600 participants and their families
  • Almost 20,000 visitors over the five-day event
  • $3.3 million into the local economy

Destination Management Plan

Central Goldfields Shire in partnership with Loddon and Mount Alexander Shires and the City of Greater Bendigo, is developing a Destination Management Plan and Local Area Action Plan, to guide the future directions for tourism development across the region and in our Shire.
