Fugitive arrested at NSW/Queensland border

Police have arrested a wanted Northern Beaches man after he was located concealed in a vehicle being transported on a truck travelling to Queensland early this morning.

Strike Force Jillabenan II was established by Organised Crime Squad detectives to locate a 33-year-old man, who was wanted for a breach of a bail and last seen at Bayview on Monday 25 October 2021.

The investigation was assisted by the Australian Federal Police, the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission, Australian Border Force, the NSW Crime Commission, and interstate police.

Acting on information from investigators, Queensland Police stopped a truck as it crossed the border into Queensland about 1am today (Wednesday 10 November 2021).

Officers searched the container on the back of the truck, where they located the 33-year-old man hiding inside a grey Mercedes.

He was arrested and taken to Southport Watch House, where the warrant was executed.

Organised Crime Squad detectives are travelling to Queensland to seek the man’s extradition to NSW when he appears at Southport Magistrates Court later today.

The NSW Police Force would like to thank all partner agencies for their assistance thus far.

Inquiries are continuing.
