Funding boost for Western Sydney infrastructure projects

NSW Government

Councils in Sydney’s west have access to a share of $139 million in financial support from the NSW Government in Round 2 of the Accelerated Infrastructure Fund (AIF).

The amount of money allocated to each council depends on the following conditions:

  • anticipated growth in each LGA
  • amount of development the funding will support, and
  • amount of co-funding that councils can provide.

All projects must commence construction within two years to qualify for the funding.

Planning and Public Spaces Minister Rob Stokes said the funding round includes high-growth greenfield precincts in Blacktown, The Hills, Hawkesbury, Penrith, Liverpool, Camden, Campbelltown and Wollondilly local government areas.

“We launched this funding to support our economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and in the first round more than $145 million was invested to deliver 14 projects,” Mr Stokes said.

“Delivering important infrastructure such as roads, stormwater drains, and public space is key to our economic recovery and the second round of the AIF brings the NSW Government’s support to more than $210 million.”

Applications close Sunday 31 October 2021.
