Further 26 charges laid in ongoing investigation at Lithgow, NSW

A man will appear in court today after being arrested at a home in Lithgow and charged with property, firearm and child abuse material offences.

The new charges relate to an ongoing investigation which began in October 2018, after officers from Chifley Police District began inquiring into property offences

Officers attached to Western Region’s Region Enforcement Squad (RES) attended a house on Benyon Street, Lithgow, shortly before 11.30am (Wednesday 25 March 2020), and arrested a 28-year-old man.

He was taken to Lithgow Police Station and charged with 11 counts of receiving stolen property (firearms), 10 counts of possess unlicensed firearm, two counts of receiving stolen property, as well as possess child abuse material, and having goods in custody suspected of being stolen.

Police will allege in court the firearms were reported stolen from a house in Oberon in May 2018.

The man has been refused bail to appear before Lithgow Local Court today (Thursday 26 March 2020).
