Further charges laid against man over sexual abuse at Armidale, NSW

Police have laid seven further charges against a man following an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse in the state’s New England region.

Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation following reports a 15-year-old girl had been sexually abused by a man she met on social media in March 2019.

A 35-year-old man was charged by investigators in May 2019.

In June 2019, a further five charges – assault with act of indecency (x3) and aggravated sexual assault – deprive liberty (x2) – were laid by detectives, following allegations the man sexually abused another two girls – then aged 16 and 17 – between June and July 2018.

Following further investigations, detectives laid an additional seven charges of assault with act of indecency at Armidale Local Court yesterday (Wednesday 7 August 2019).

Police will allege in court that the man indecently assaulted another woman – then aged 21 – at a home in Armidale in October 2018.

The man remains bail refused and is due to re-appear at the same court on Wednesday 18 September 2019.
