Further charges laid by SF Sauvignon, NSW

Last year in May, officers attached to North West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad established Strike Force Sauvignon to investigate the commercial supply of prohibited drugs – mainly heroin and methylamphetamine (ice) – across Sydney.

As part of Strike Force Sauvignon in November 2021, Police executed numerous search warrants in Burwood, Bankstown, Queanbeyan and Newcastle areas.

On Wednesday 5 October 2022, investigators executed further search warrants at units on Liverpool Road, Strathfield and Burwood Road, Burwood.

It will be alleged that at the locations police seized 35.5kg of butanediol, 702g of heroin, 4.3kg of methylamphetamine and 435g of cannabis.

Police will further allege that over $270,000 cash and drug manufacturing equipment was located.

A 38-year-old man was arrested at the Burwood address and charged with supply prohibited drug>indicatable & commercial quantity, two counts of supply prohibited drug (large commercial quantity) and two counts of knowingly deal with proceeds of crime.

He was refused bail and remains before the courts.

Following further investigations, additional charges were laid against the man yesterday (Tuesday 20 December 2022), including supply prohibited drug (large commercial quantity), three counts of supply prohibited drug (commercial quantity) and participate criminal group contribute commercial activity.

To date, 11 people have been arrested and charged by Strike Force Sauvignon investigators.
