Further three charged after series of aggravated home invasions

Gang Crime Squad detectives charged a further three males yesterday afternoon as part of their investigation into an alleged series of targeted aggravated home invasions and a violent affray last month.

A 17-year-old from Albanvale and a 16-year-old from Weir Views were charged with aggravated home invasion and criminal damage.

The 16-year-old was also charged with robbery in relation to a separate investigation by Transit Crime Investigation Unit.

A 17-year-old from Sunshine North was charged with aggravated home invasion, attempted aggravated burglary and criminal damage.

All three will be presented to a children’s court.

The charges follow a stabbing in Springvale on June 16, and three aggravated home invasions in Hampton Park, Noble Park and Dandenong on 18 June.

Police carried out searches at ten addresses at 6am on Wednesday, 20 July, including properties in Sunshine North (3), St Albans (2), Deer Park (2), Sunshine (2) and Burnside Heights.

Five males, two 18-year-olds from Sunshine, a 19-year-old from St Albans and two 17-year-olds from Sunshine North, were all charged with home invasion and related offending on Wednesday.

Two males from Deer Park, a 19-year-old and a 16-year-old, were released and are expected to be charged on summons.

Police will allege the incidents are a result of escalating tensions between male youths associated with two rival gangs.

The investigation remains ongoing.
