Central Goldfields Art Gallery is set to welcome back visitors from Thursday 3 December, just in time for the annual Community Art Exhibition.

Opening from 10am this Thursday, the Art Gallery will showcase the artistic talents of residents from the Central Goldfields Shire and Avoca in its latest exhibition.

The exhibition features works of art and the range of creative visual arts practices throughout the region including photography, textiles, painting and wood work.

Maryborough Craft Shop are sponsoring first, second and third prizes for young primary school aged students who have entered craft in the exhibition.

All visitors to the exhibition are encouraged to vote in the popular People’s Choice Award.

Central Goldfields Shire Mayor Cr Chris Meddows-Taylor said it was wonderful to see the Gallery reopen to the public following the easing of Government restrictions.

“The Central Goldfields Art Gallery has done a tremendous job supporting our local arts community during the year by hosting a series of excellent online exhibitions on Council’s website.

“The Community Art Exhibition is an annual highlight for the Gallery and the community and I’m excited to see what creations our talented residents have submitted to the exhibition.”

The exhibition will be on display until 20 December, when the Gallery closes for Christmas and New Year, before re-opening from 14 January, 2021.

The Gallery is open from 10am to 4pm from Thursdays to Sundays and is located at 3 Neill Street, Maryborough.

Visitors are reminded to adhere to keep COVIDSafe by wearing masks inside the Gallery and social distancing.
