Get ready for summer storm and fire season

Are you ready for storms this summer?

Resilient communities are the key to protecting lives and property during natural disasters.

Get Ready Queensland Week runs from October 13-19 and is the perfect time to think about preparations ahead of disasters.

Get Ready Queensland aims to make Queensland the most disaster-ready state by helping communities manage and reduce disaster risk.

“Queensland has already experienced its share of natural disasters this year but we need to stay vigilant,” Logan City Council Interim Administrator Tamara O’Shea said.

“The City of Logan is not immune to the floods, bushfires, heatwaves and severe weather that are a feature of Queensland summers.

“Council plays a pivotal role in keeping the community safe but it is up to each of us to be as prepared as possible.”

Council also conducts continuous disaster management training for staff and will stage the annual disaster management exercise for staff this week to make sure we are ready this season.

Whether it’s severe storms, bushfires or floods, Council’s Disaster Dashboard (disaster.logan.qld.gov.au) gives real-time updates during an emergency with weather warnings, road closures, power outages and more.
