Get snap happy for nature

The Nature Conservancy is pleased to announce our 2019 Photo Contest. Following the success in recent years of our local TNC Australia photo competition, we’ve teamed up with our international colleagues to take the competition worldwide. The new contest offers the opportunity for entrants to share their photos of nature with a global audience.

“Nature photography inspires professional and amateur photographers alike all around the world”, said TNC Australia director Rich Gilmore. Taking photos of dramatic landscapes or flamboyant wildlife is a great pastime that helps people connect with nature and enjoy the outdoors.”

The 2019 Photo Contest will award prizes in six global categories as follows:

  • Cities and Nature: connecting with nature where we live.
  • Landscape: a sense of place with or without people.
  • People and Nature: recreation, adventure, people enjoying the outdoors.
  • Water: above, below, or in between.
  • Wildlife: in the wild or in our backyard.
  • People’s Choice: (winner chosen via public online vote).

Prizes will be given for the best Australian photos as judged by renowned South Australian nature photographer, Ben Goode.

The total prize pool, including prizes for global and Australian winners, exceeds AUD$20,000 in value.

The Nature Conservancy’s 2019 Photo Contest runs throughout August.

“I’d like to encourage anyone with a passion for nature to dig out their best photos or, better still, get outdoors and take some new inspiring nature photos to enter into our contest”, added Gilmore.
