Girl dies in hospital after all-terrain vehicle crash, NSW

A young girl has died in hospital after a crash at a property in the Illawarra region at the weekend.

About 10:20am on Sunday (17 February2019), emergency services were called to Calderwood Road, Marshall Mount, after reports a young girl had been injured in a crash involving a four-wheeled all-terrain vehicle (ATV).

Police have been told the driver lost control and crashed into a fence with three passengers on board.

The driver, a 31-year-old woman from Marshall Mount, was taken to Wollongong Hospital with minor injuries, where she also underwent mandatory testing.

Two 11-year-old girls also received treatment for minor injuries.

A 10-year-old girl from Birrong was airlifted to the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, where she died today (Tuesday 19 February 2019).

Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit will continue inquiries into the events leading up to the crash.
