Give Gift Of Hope This Christmas With REIWA And Salvos

REIWA is proud to support The Salvation Army’s Christmas Appeal once again, with more Western Australians reaching out for help this festive season, REIWA CEO Cath Hart said today.

“REIWA’s ongoing commitment to the Christmas Appeal is part of our long-standing support for the Salvos through our philanthropic Community REInvest program, which helps ensure that they can continue their vital work in supporting vulnerable individuals and families across WA,” she said.

“From Monday 4 November to Friday 29 November, 46 REIWA member agencies across the state – including in Dunsborough and Kalgoorlie – will be accepting public donations of non-perishable food items and new, unwrapped gifts, which will be donated to the Salvos. REIWA House at 215 Hay Street, Subiaco, will also serve as a collection point.

“While Christmas is a time of joy for many, the festive season can be especially challenging for those in our community experiencing hardship or struggling with cost-of-living pressures,” Ms Hart said.

“The Salvation Army has experienced a strong increase in demand for their services over this year which is expected to increase as we head into Christmas.

“There is something that individuals and businesses can do to make a difference though with a simple donation – whether it’s a gift voucher, pantry items, or new toys – to make the festive season a little brighter for the more vulnerable members of our community.

“Bring your donation down to REIWA HQ or drop it off to a participating real estate agency in your neighbourhood.”

The Salvation Army spokesperson Warren Palmer said the Christmas Appeal was even more vitally important this year, with a growing number of Western Australians reaching out for support.

“The Christmas Appeal aims to provide support for WA families experiencing food and financial insecurity,” he said.

“We want to ensure that the spirit of Christmas can still visit those families and individuals, and our goal is to meet the needs of everyone who turns to us for help.

“Our hope of achieving this rests with the support of those who can give, and REIWA’s Community REInvest partners are crucial in helping us make homes a ‘hub of hope’ this Christmas.”

Ms Hart said the Christmas Appeal was a special campaign on REIWA’s Community REInvest calendar.

“Over the past decade, REIWA members have been proud to support vulnerable members of the community throughout the year with our Community REInvest program – the Salvos’ Christmas Appeal is a particularly special initiative where agents take meaningful action to help share the Christmas spirit among all West Australians,” she said.

“REIWA members will also take part in the Salvos’ Christmas Cheer week – helping sort and display donations and then guiding people through choosing gifts for Christmas. It gives them a great deal of pleasure and is very personal for many of them.”
