The Tasmanian Government welcomes Ken Hinkley as the inaugural Tasmania Football Club Coach.
Minister for Sport, Nick Duigan, said this was a great announcement for Tasmania.
“This is a huge step in bringing our AFL team dream closer to reality,” Minister Duigan said.
“Ken’s appointment is the next step in laying the foundations for our team’s entry into the competition.
“Having someone as passionate and dedicated to football as Ken will drive our team to success ahead of our entry to the AFL and beyond.
“I know the Club has been searching for the right person to lead the team and there was strong interest in the role, which demonstrates Tasmania’s commitment to fostering high-performance sport and delivering opportunities for athletes to excel right here.
“Our AFL and AFLW teams are already creating a new industry in Tasmania, supporting our economy and attracting highly skilled people, just like Ken, delivering benefits to the whole community.
“We are delivering for Tasmania by investing in initiatives that support jobs, our economy, and increase the health of Tasmanians.”
Hinkley will join the club on a five-year deal that will take him through until the end of the 2031 season.
Hinkley coached Port Adelaide from 2013 to 2025. The 59-year-old has an excellent winning record of 58.6 per cent, having guided Port to 174 victories from his 297 games in charge.
