Gold Coast Aboriginal artist Goompi Ugerabah paints live at Gallery One Saturday 3 August

Contemporary Aboriginal artist Goompi Ugerabah will be painting in Gallery One at The Brickworks between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 3 August. He will be working on a piece for his upcoming exhibition Goompi Dreaming, which opens on Saturday 10 August.

Gallery One manager Karen Spooner says,

“Goompi loves to share his connection to Kombumerri country and reverence to land and family. This is a great opportunity to see him depict his dreaming in intricate, dotted shapes and meticulous line work. For Goompi, these paintings are his way to keep his culture alive for generations.

“This is Goompi’s third solo exhibition with Gallery One. We’ve had strong interest in his work in the lead-up, and today sold his title work Goompi Dreaming.

“Every show of Goompi’s at Gallery One has sold out!”

The Goompi Dreaming exhibition opening night is on Saturday 10 August from 6pm until 8pm. Goompi will present his work and perform as part of the Bundjalung dance troupe.

Goompi’s artwork is held in collections around the world including the CIA in Langley, Virginia, US and in the private collection of Princess Benedikte of Denmark. He is also collected by notable Queensland businesses Iconic at Kirra Beach, Zarraffa’s Coffee head office and John Deere Australia, Crestmead.
