  • The Golden Lens photography competition is back for 2023.

    The competition provides an opportunity for WA Seniors Card members to share photos which reflect the lives of seniors across Western Australia.

    The competition aims to promote ageing well, by celebrating the skills of Western Australians through the art of photography and to demonstrate that people be creative at any age.

    The 2023 competition has returned with five categories, which include:

    • Active Ageing;
    • Artistic Photography;
    • Diverse Cultures;
    • Flora and Fauna; and
    • Seniors Influencer.

    There will also be an overall People’s Choice category where public voting will be possible via the WA Seniors Card Facebook page.

    Selected photos will be featured in the next edition of the WA Seniors Card Discount Directory which will be published in the 2023-24 financial year.

    Prizes have been donated by participating WA Seniors Card business partners for the winner and runner-up of each category.

    The competition closes on 17 March 2023. Further information about entry requirements is available at https://www.seniorscard.wa.gov.au/goldenlens/.

    As stated by Seniors and Ageing Minister Don Punch:

    “The Golden Lens competition is a fantastic opportunity for our WA Seniors Card members to share the stories of their lives and interests through the power of the image.

    “Our seniors lead diverse and interesting lives and love to share their stories, so what better way is there to speak a thousand words than through a photograph.

    “There are some new categories this year and I look forward to again viewing the submissions.

    “The McGowan Government is developing a 10-year whole-of-government Seniors Strategy for WA to support older Western Australians of all backgrounds to live their best life as they age.

    “There is a growing imperative for ‘whole of community’ commitment and action to ensure that older people remain active and participate in their community.

    “This competition is yet another initiative that demonstrates that commitment and action.”
