Goldfields-Esperance tourism attractions on display

  • ‘Our Gems WA’ website has officially launched, showcasing attractions from across the Goldfields-Esperance region
  • Project supported by almost $800,000 McGowan Government and Lotterywest investment
  • Delivers on election commitment to establish an online tourism trail in the region
  • The ‘Our Gems WA’ website has been officially launched today enabling visitors to plan their Goldfields-Esperance holiday with ease.

Our Gems stands for Goldfields-Esperance Must See’ and connects all arts, cultural, natural and tourist attractions from across the Goldfields-Esperance region, all the way from Hopetoun to Eucla, up to the Ngaanyatjarra Lands and Wiluna, and everything in between.

The website will be the centre point for locals and visitors to discover the attractions, locations and events of the region. Local governments and visitors’ centres in the region have access to update the listings on the website and link to current and relevant information.

The project will complement and extend the existing visitor experiences and tourism services operating in the region and connect State-funded projects such as the Woodlands centre in Norseman and the Great Beyond Visitor Centre in Laverton, which is currently being upgraded.

The project has also developed three self-guided app tours included on the Everythere application – Coolgardie: Mother of the Goldfields, Historical Burt Street and Heartwalk Murals.

Visitors are encouraged to head to https://ourgems.com.au and begin exploring their own backyard.

As stated by Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan:

“The Goldfields-Esperance region offers goldrush history and heritage, self-drive trails through to natural wonders, authentic cultural experiences and outback pubs.

“Our Gems WA allows Western Australians and visitors the opportunity to explore the region and discover the attractions, locations and events of the Goldfields and Esperance.

“The McGowan Government committed to seeing this important project come to life, and it is great to see this outcome delivered for the Goldfields.”
