Goldsworthy reserve upgraded

Budding athletes in Geelong’s northern suburbs now have access to a modern, state-of-the-art facility after a $1.3 million redevelopment of Goldsworthy Reserve, Corio.

The reserve’s old athletics track has been replaced with a brand-new IAAF-approved synthetic rubber surface. It also features in-ground technology to provide precise timing and data logging.

The makeover has delivered new triple and long-jump facilities, synthetic turf in the throw cages, improved drainage, kerbing and pavements, and root barriers to prevent damage from nearby trees.

The venue is home to the Corio Little Athletics Centre, which includes Bell Park, Corio South, Corio West, Golden Plains and Lara Little Athletics Clubs. It’s also regularly used by local primary and secondary schools.

The works were fully funded by the City.
