Graffiti Incidents At Camden Park And Moana

Police are investigating the report of graffiti in Camden Park yesterday.

Just before 7.40am, Saturday 11 July police were made aware of a report of offensive material having been graffitied at a home in Camden Park.

Police attended the victims address and located an offensive symbol, text and damage to a vehicle parked at the property.

The motivation for this crime remains unclear but the use of the symbols appears be because the occupants are Jewish.

CCTV footage from a neighbouring property shows a dark coloured sedan vehicle arriving at the address at 4am and two people approach the victim’s house.

Police would like to speak with these two people and appeal to any associates of these people are to come forward.

Police are aware of a second report of offensive material being located near the boat ramp in Moana at 9.30am this morning.

This investigation into this report would suggest that the damage is old and the matters do not appear to be linked.

Acting Assistant Commissioner, Scott Fizgerald states “There is no place in South Australia for antisemitism, hatred or discrimination of any kind and we unequivocally condemn it”.

“We understand incidents of antisemitism can leave communities feeling targeted, threatened, and vulnerable”

Communities are encouraged to report any incidents of criminal damage or harassment to police in the first instance so that it can be investigated.

Reporting these incidents assists police in gathering knowledge about racism and discrimination that may require a broader policing response in the community.
