Grampians Lakes Fishing Competition coming to Lake Fyans

A new fishing competition is coming to Lake Fyans on the Sunday of the upcoming Melbourne Cup long weekend, with big prizes on offer for those who can demonstrate their fishing prowess.

Managed and organised by the Stawell & District Angling Club, the competition will feature redfin and trout fishing from both boats and banks at Lake Fyans.

First prize for the competitor who reels in the heaviest redfin will win a new, Savage 3.6m boat with a two-stroke Tohatsu motor and trailer, valued at $6,870.

First prize for the junior competitor who lands the heaviest redfin will take home a new kayak, valued at $600.

Mayor of Northern Grampians Shire Council, Cr Kevin Erwin said, “We’re very pleased to be sponsoring the inaugural Grampians Lakes Fishing Competition, and we wish Stawell & District Angling Club all the best for the event.”

Cost of entry into the competition is $20 for adults and $5 for juniors, with family discounts available for two adults and two juniors. The discount will be applied at the weigh-in and presentation ceremony on the day.
