Grange Reserve To Get New Pitch

The Grange Reserve soccer field is getting a new pitch!

Council has awarded the construction contract for a new synthetic pitch at the Hoppers Crossing reserve, with works scheduled to commence in September.

Wyndham City Active City portfolio holder Cr Peter Maynard said these works will replace the current synthetic surface, which has reached the end of its useful life.

“As Wyndham’s population grows, so too does the need to provide our community with quality sporting infrastructure close to home,” Cr Maynard said.

“Synthetic surfaces require no irrigation during warmer months, resulting in lower maintenance costs, and are more suitable for high usage compared to grass pitches.”

“This replacement surface will breathe new life into the field and follows the installation of four lighting poles at pitch 1 earlier this year, which have allowed teams like the Hoppers Crossing Soccer Club to use the ground for training and games at night.”

“This $800,000 project will be funded by a Local Roads and Community Infrastructure grant, and I’d like to personally thank the Federal Government for funding these important works.”

Works are expected to be complete in mid-December.
