Grant funding boost for Division 2 community

Sunshine Coast Council has allocated more than $147,000 to community clubs and associations for projects happening in or around Division 2 as part of its Major Community Grants program.

Division 2 Councillor Terry Landsberg said that being able to support local projects run by local groups and volunteers is what makes our Sunshine Coast community spirit so special.

“From a defibrillator for the Caloundra Malibu Club to helping the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard out with critical equipment such as marine radios these grants are sure to make the world of difference to our local community based organisations,” Cr Landsberg said.

“We also have such a creative community, and supporting our local woodworkers, artists, a great youth street art project and the Surf Film Festival through grant funding is just another way to show pride in our place and people.

“Organisations that run events and projects for our residents are the lifeblood of our community and they are what makes us thrive. They contribute to our healthy, smart, creative vision for the region.

“I’m looking forward to the return of the Currimundi Twilight Markets and the 2020 Sunshine Coast Surf Film Festival after the longest ever absence of community events.”

Applications for council’s next round of Major Community Grants will open on Monday 13 July.
