Volunteers and community group members have the opportunity this month to learn tips and tricks that will help them succeed in getting grants for their projects and activities.
Corangamite Shire Manager Growth and Engagement Rory Neeson encouraged community group members and volunteers to register for the upcoming ‘Successful Grant Writing’ workshop.
“This workshop is perfectly timed because council has four grants programs open for applications this month,” Mr Neeson said.
“They include $60,000 for Events and Festivals, $50,000 for Facilities, $30,000 in Environment Support, and $50,000 in Community Grants. The Facility, Community, and Environment Support programs are provided on a dollar-for-dollar basis.”
The workshop is the third session in the We Volunteer training program Council is running to support community groups.
Mr Neeson said the free monthly training sessions were aimed at recognising the vital work volunteers do across Corangamite Shire and helping take their organisations to the next level.
“Whether you are an old hand or completely new to community involvement, there is always something new to learn that can help you work smarter and better for your community,” he said.
“Volunteers make really valuable contributions to the community on so many levels, and part of Council’s mission is to work with those passionate grass roots operators to build a connected and thriving community.”

The workshop will be held on Wednesday 22 May from 6.30-9 pm at the Killara Centre Camperdown.
