Bega Valley Shire Council is pleased to announce one-off grants of $2,500 or $5,000 to local small businesses that have participated in its Business Activator program and attended a free business support session.
Council’s Economic Development Officer, Peter Wild said the Bega Valley Business Activator program was established to encourage local business and industry collaboration and development through mentoring, training and a series of networking events.
“This grant will help small businesses achieve goals and deliver on objectives identified through participating in the Business Activator one-on-one support sessions and workshop programs,” Mr Wild said.
“This in turn will improve the position and outlook of small businesses across the Bega Valley Shire.”
Business Activator Program Coordinator, Rhys Treloar said the Business Activator program is a great way for local businesses to receive a helping hand in navigating the various support systems and programs available to them.
“After the challenges of the past few years and current low confidence in the economy, it’s great to see funding delivered by governments, to help strengthen the Bega Valley economy and support small business owners who have been doing it tough,” Mr Treloar said.
“The Business Activator program and grants are a Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund project jointly funded by the Australian and NSW governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
“Applicants must be a sole trader enterprise or have fewer than 20 employees, be based in the Bega Valley Shire and meet the eligibility criteria of the Business Activator grant.
“Applications will open in February 2024, giving Bega Valley small businesses plenty of time to sign up to the Business Activator program and participate in business support sessions and workshops.
