Applications for International Day of People with Disability 2026 grants are now open.
Grants are now open for community groups, not-for-profit organisations and local governments across Western Australia, as part of this year’s International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) celebrations.
The Department of Communities has provided $100,000 for grants of up to $1,250 for inclusive events and activities. The grants will be administered by Developmental Disability WA (DDWA).
This funding aligns with the vision of the State Disability Strategy 2020-2030 for a more inclusive Western Australia, where people with disability can participate fully in all aspects of community life.
Previous events have included festivals, forums, sporting events, workshops, picnics, come-and-try activities and art exhibitions to encourage community connection and bring people of all abilities together.
Celebrated on 3 December each year, IDPwD raises awareness and understanding of people with disability and recognises their achievements and contributions.
This year’s WA theme is Valued. Included. Leading. It highlights the importance of creating communities where people with disability feel valued and included and are empowered to contribute, influence change and lead in their own way.
Organisations are encouraged to involve people with lived experience in planning and delivering their events, which will be featured on our IDPwD page later this year.
