Grants open: Indigenous Protected Areas

Dept of Climate Change, Energy, Environment & Water

Applications are now open for grants under the Indigenous Protected Areas (IPA) program for new and expanding IPAs.

IPAs are areas of land and sea that Traditional Owners have agreed to manage for biodiversity conservation and the protection of cultural values.

There are:

  • 82 dedicated IPAs
  • covering over 87 million hectares of land
  • around 5 million hectares of sea.

Indigenous organisations may apply to establish a new IPA under an open-competitive grant opportunity. Existing IPA providers may also apply to expand their current dedicated IPAs under this grant opportunity.

Apply before 6 October 2023 at Grant Connect.
