Grants To Celebrate Geelong’s Ageing Community Open

The City is thrilled to announce the availability of a total grant pool of $24,000 to support community-hosted activities and experiences that celebrate and empower our ageing community.

These grants aim to promote physical activity, mental health and wellbeing, social connections, and positive ageing among our senior citizens.

Grants of up to $1000 are available to deliver events and activities, such as venue hire, artist or facilitator fees, publicity and promotion, materials, transport and travel, and catering. Previous successful grants include dances, workshops, sporting activities and events that celebrate positive ageing.

Activities eligible for funding should focus on:

  • increasing physical activity
  • promoting mental health and wellbeing
  • enhancing social connections
  • recognising and celebrating achievements
  • supporting positive ageing
  • providing opportunities for intergenerational activity

The Positive Ageing Grants are guided by the City’s Positive Ageing Strategy 2021-2047 which aims to promote and support healthy ageing for people over 55 in the City of Greater Geelong.

In 2021, people aged 55 and over comprised 31.5% of the population of the City of Greater Geelong.
