Grants to improve health of our youngest Canberrans

The ACT Government is inviting applications for grants to help improve the health of Canberra children in the earliest part of their lives.

The $1 million Healthy Canberra Grants: Focus on Supporting Children and Families program will support community-based initiatives to support families of babies and children from conception to two years of age (the first 1000 days).

Minister for Health Rachel Stephen-Smith said early childhood is a critical time that establishes the foundations for long-term health.

“Because the brain is at a vital stage of development, the earliest days of a child’s life are crucial for developing physical, social and emotional health and wellbeing,” Minister Stephen-Smith said.

“These grants are a fantastic opportunity to help give Canberra families and their children the best start possible.

“I encourage the community to put forward grant applications for programs that will put children on the path to lifelong health and wellbeing.”

This round of Healthy Canberra Grants will support programs and projects to be delivered between mid-2022 and December 2024.

Applications are open now and close on Friday 11 March 2022.
