Grants to support more Territorians reap the benefits of a healthy lifestyle

Eight local organisations have been awarded a NT Health 2023 – 2024 Healthy Lifestyle Grant to help Territorians maintain a healthy weight and prevent obesity.

Sharing in a sum of $220,000, grants have been awarded to projects across the Territory including in the Top End, Big Rivers, Central Australia and East Arnhem regions.

In its third year, the Healthy Lifestyle Grants have supported 25 projects across the Territory, with more than $600,000 provided to deliver localised obesity prevention initiatives.

The range of projects funded in this round include:

installation of chilled, filtered water fountains and health promotion activities in East Arnhem communitiesa physical activity program involving swimming lessons and water safety for children and adolescents in Central Australiahealthy lifestyle and community-driven bike riding programs for youth in Big Riversa healthy living program for seniors in the Top Enda food security, environmental health and hygiene program in Central Australia.

The Healthy Lifestyle Grants Program provides funding to local projects which support active lifestyles, healthy eating and create supportive environments in places where people spend their time.
