- Almost $1 million allocated in new round of Queensland Feral Pest Initiative
- Local governments and NRM groups funded to mitigate impact of invasive plants and animals

Under Round 7 of the Queensland Feral Pest Initiative (QFPI), local governments and Natural Resource Management groups across Queensland will receive grants totalling almost $1 million to support collaborative arrangements that mitigate the impact of invasive plants and animals.
Projects include a regional facility to grow biological control agents for aquatic weeds, data capture and audits of emerging pests in regional areas, planning for better participation in landholder programs and furthering understanding of feral animal impacts. Successful applicants include:

• Terrain NRM
• Cape York Natural Resource Management Ltd
• Southern Queensland NRM – Trading as SQ Landscapes
• City of Logan
• Quilpie Shire Council
• Hinchinbrook Shire Council
• Gulf Savannah NRM
• Whitsunday Regional Council
• Western Downs Regional Council.

“Through Queensland Feral Pest Initiative, the Queensland Government has now committed more than $26 million to support control measures for invasive plants and invasive animals control measures including cluster fences,” Mr Furner said.
“This funding is complemented by a $14 million investment from the Federal Government. As with previous rounds, these grants help reduce the impact of feral pests and support jobs in regional Queensland.”
