Great opportunity for young people

Young people who want to lead the way in the youth events and activities space in Wodonga are invited to join the Wodonga FReeZA Youth Program.

If you are aged between 12 and 25 and are interested in delivering great events for young people, come along to a get-together at Hyphen – Wodonga Library Gallery’s Community Studio on Friday, May 27, from 4pm to 6pm.

The event includes free pizza, great music and information about joining the Wodonga FReeZA Youth Program.

Wodonga Council Youth Officer Janet Banda said the program empowers members to work together to create and run events in Wodonga for other young people.

“There were a lot of people feeling disconnected during the height of COVD and this is a great way to build those connections again,” she said.

“The youth program is all about bringing people together and being involved in leading the way forward for an even more active and vibrant youth space in our city.

“Young people involved will build skills in areas like event planning, organisation and teamwork because they will be working together to create and design events.”

With support from Wodonga Council, the Wodonga FReeZA Youth Program will plan and run fun and engaging youth-focused events, including one major event, per year.

Janet is encouraging parents and carers to talk to the young people in their lives.

“This would look great on their resume and helps widen their network,” she said.

“We look forward to meeting and working with the next round of youth members.”

FReeZA is a Victorian Government initiative that supports young Victorians to get involved in their community by planning and running drug, alcohol and smoke-free events for young people.
