Greater Grants Presents Funding Opportunity for Community Organisations

Southern Grampians Shire Council’s Greater Grants Program returns this year with applications for Round One 2022/23 open from 9:00am Monday 1 August 2022.

The program invites local community groups to apply for funding of up to $15,000 per financial year for projects, initiatives and events that benefit the region. Applicants seeking over $2,500 must demonstrate either cash or in-kind contributions and also provide evidence of cash held, or demonstrate financial capacity.

Southern Grampians Shire Council Acting Mayor Cr David Robertson said the Grants offer a great opportunity to support local community groups and not-for-profit organisations to achieve projects that benefit the community.

“I encourage everyone who’s interested in the Greater Grants Program to apply for eligible projects, and to read through the guidelines and assessment criteria to give their application the best chance of success,” said Cr Robertson.

“Historically we have been privileged to be able to support some fantastic projects funded either fully or partially over the life of the Greater Grants program, with the last round being no exception. Important work is being done by these individuals and groups to improve and strengthen our community. Council is pleased to have the opportunity to support residents to turn their projects into reality.”

Round Two of the 2021/22 program saw 20 different community projects receive funding. Successful applications included:

  • Balmoral Mechanics Institute Tables and Chairs Upgrade
  • Branxholme Heritage Signs
  • Hamilton Speedway Drivers Canteen Extension
  • Dunkeld Post Office Heritage Restoration
  • Pigeon Ponds Recreation Reserve Kitchen Upgrade
  • Dunkeld Arboretum Signage
  • Hamilton History Centre Scanner Equipment Purchase

“With grants available in a number of categories including tourism and events, heritage, sustainability and community infrastructure, it’s worth exploring your project and how it will serve the community,” concluded Cr Robertson.

2022/23 Round One closes 4:00pm Wednesday 31 August 2022.
