The 2026 Greater Shepparton Seniors Festival is set to kick off on Sunday 1 October, with this year’s festival bigger than ever with an impressive 121 events across Greater Shepparton.
Running throughout October, the festival offers a diverse range of events and experiences designed to celebrate older residents and encourage lifelong learning, wellbeing, social participation and community connection. From live entertainment and workshops to health and wellbeing activities, social gatherings, exhibitions and special events, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
The 2026 Seniors Festival Guide is now available and provides a complete listing of festival events, dates, locations and booking information. Residents can find a copy via Greater Shepparton City Council’s website, in the Shepparton News on Tuesday 29 September 2026 or the Shepparton Adviser on Wednesday 30 September 2026.
Mayor, Councillor Geoff Akers, said the festival is one of the region’s most anticipated community celebrations.
“The Seniors Festival is a wonderful opportunity to recognise and celebrate the important contributions older residents make to our community while providing opportunities to connect, learn something new and enjoy time with friends,” he said.
“This year’s program offers a fantastic range of activities across Greater Shepparton, and I encourage everyone to take a look through the guide and start planning which events they would like to attend.”
Cr Akers said the festival showcases the vibrant and active lifestyle opportunities available throughout the municipality.
“Whether you’re interested in arts and culture, health and wellbeing, learning new skills or simply spending time with others, there are events and activities to suit a wide range of interests,” he said.
A highlight of this year’s festival will be Council’s annual Seniors Festival Concert, featuring the acclaimed Honky Tonk Queens production by Amber Joy Poulton and The Holy Two on Tuesday 13 October 2026 at Riverlinks Eastbank. The nostalgic tribute to country music legends Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, Tammy Wynette and Loretta Lynn promises an entertaining morning of music, storytelling and singalong favourites.
To help make the event accessible and inclusive, an Auslan interpreter will be provided, and a bus service will be available for residents from small towns, assisting those who may otherwise experience transport barriers.
