Grievous bodily harm charges at Gladstone

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Branch have charged four adults after a large brawl in New Auckland overnight resulted in multiple people receiving serious injuries.

Just before midnight, police were called to Shaw Street following reports of a disturbance.

Upon arrival, police separated a large physical altercation in which blunt weapons were allegedly used against four people.

Two men sustained serious injuries to their heads and upper bodies. They were taken to Gladstone Hospital for treatment.

Two women were also transported to Gladstone Hospital with minor injuries.

Two men, aged 23 from New Auckland and 21 from West Gladstone, were arrested at the scene.

Two women, aged 25 from New Auckland and 19 from West Gladstone, were arrested this morning.

They were all charged conjointly with two counts of grievous bodily harm, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, unlawful possession of a weapon and three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm while armed.

They have been refused police bail and will attend the Gladstone Magistrates Court tomorrow.
