Grievous bodily harm charges in Mitchell, QLD

Two people have been charged following an incident in Mitchell yesterday afternoon.

At 2.40pm, a 39-year-old man and a 42-year-old man and woman, who are all known to each other, became involved in a verbal dispute outside a hotel on Cambridge Street.

Police will allege the pair struck the 39-year-old man with a baseball bat multiple times before proceeding to punch and kick him.

The man was transported to the Toowoomba Hospital for treatment to his injuries including a fractured hip.

The two people were located by police a short time later at a Margaret Street residence.

A 42-year-old Mitchell man and a 42-year-old Mitchell woman have been charged with one count each of grievous bodily harm and going armed so as to cause fear.

The man will appear at the Mitchell Magistrates Court today, February 2, and the woman on Monday February 4.
