Griffith Regional art Gallery calls for entries in 2022 community art exhibition

AUDIO VISIONS is Griffith Regional Art Gallery’s 2022 community art exhibition and they’re calling for entries!

Are you inspired by music and art? Have you ever thought about combining them both to create your own unique master piece? If this concept is intriguing then AUDIO VISIONS is the exhibition for you!

Many great modern artists including Paul Klee, Henri Matisse, Marc Chagall, Piet Mondrian and Wassily Kandinsky used music as an inspiration for art. Through painting or sculpture, these artists found a way to visually mirror their strong emotional response to music. The choice of colour or the artists’ brush strokes were often direct result of the melody and rhythm that they heard via a musical composition – artworks were often painted rapidly or in multiple sessions to repeating music.

Griffith Regional Art Gallery Coordinator, Ray Wholohan said, “We are very excited by this year’s theme and hope many local artists are inspired by the prospect of entering AUDIO VISIONS. Submitting work into the exhibition is super easy, just grab an entry form, paint your favourite piece of music, and drop them both off to the Gallery before Friday 1 April.”

Mr Wholohan is encouraging everyone in the art community to enter.

“Let your ears be the source of creativity for artworks inspired by your favourite pieces of music. Because, art and music are the epitome of creativity,” he said.

AUDIO VISIONS exhibition will be held from Thursday 14 April to Sunday 15 May 2022. Entry forms are available on the Gallery’s website or in person from the Art Gallery, entries close 5pm Friday 1 April.
