Gympie Welcomes Detective Senior Sergeant Tim Harris

Gympie has welcomed a new detective senior sergeant to the region, bringing nearly two decades of experience in holding offenders to account and keeping the community safe.

Detective Senior Sergeant Tim Harris has been appointed the Officer in Charge of the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) and Child Investigation and Protection Unit (CPIU), overseeing all criminal investigations undertaken by both units.

He will also lead the development and implementation of investigative strategies aimed at reducing offending and ensuring the effective delivery of investigative services across the Gympie Patrol Group.

Detective Senior Sergeant Harris said he looks forward to learning new skills and benefiting from the experience and expertise of existing detectives in Gympie.

“Both Gympie CIB and CPIU have an outstanding reputation for their hard work, dedication and resilience, and I am excited by the opportunity to lead such highly respected teams while contributing to their ongoing success,” he said.

The Detective Senior Sergeant role is new for the region and will provide greater capabilities for the units to serve the Gympie community.

“This growth provides the units with the opportunity to leverage fresh ideas, diverse experiences and varied skill sets,” he said.

“By combining local knowledge with new perspectives, the team can continue to evolve and strengthen its response capabilities, ultimately enhancing community safety.”

Detective Senior Sergeant Harris has served with the Queensland Police Service for 19 years and was previously a Detective Sergeant with Sunshine Coast CIB.
