Happy Cats win big in lead up to Cats By-law

Last month we ran our Happy Cat Competition for cat owners in the Adelaide Hills and our winners were drawn this week. Congratulations Darcy, Mr G, and Rollo, who share in vouchers for CatPad Enclosures and Every Pet, and a special gift pack of toys and cat furniture!

Darcy lives in Aldgate. His entry explained that he has a variety of scratch toys and posts, and he likes to hide and pounce.

Mr G lives in Cudlee Creek and was recently inherited by his owner. In his entry, his owner recommended embracing your cat as a member of the family and letting them sleep, hide, or play on their own schedule.

Rollo lives in Stirling with Hiro – another entry in the competition. An older cat, Rollo’s entry recommended a heated cat bed to ease arthritis in the cold hills winters.

All entrants offered great ideas for keeping cats happy at home – an important consideration for when our Cats By-law comes into effect from 1 January and cats must remain on your property at all times.

Some of our favourite ideas included having high perches near windows for excellent views, using cardboard boxes for affordable tunnels and play, and utilising a netted outdoor area where cats can watch the world go by.

Cat owners in the hills can continue to use the Hills Cattery to share ideas and ask questions about transitioning to keeping their cats on their properties at all times.
