Hardworking Hervey Bay woman vows to keep working despite $20 million Oz Lotto prize

Despite discovering she’s now Australia’s newest multi-millionaire, a Hervey Bay woman has vowed to keep working.

The Queenslander held one of the two division one winning entries nationally in Oz Lotto draw 1695 on Tuesday 11 August 2026. Each division one winning entry pocketed $20 million.

If the winning woman had been part of The Lott Members Club and registered her ticket to a player card or online account, she would have been alerted to her good fortune after the draw on Tuesday night.

However, this morning, she received the shock of a lifetime when checking her ticket while on her way to work.

“Oh Jesus! I’m still shaking,” the woman exclaimed while speaking to us.

“It’s the shock!

“I just came into the store this morning to check my ticket and saw that someone had won, but they didn’t know who because it wasn’t registered.

“I didn’t think it was me but thought I’d better check my ticket.

“I initially thought they said I’d won $20,000, but then realised there were a few more digits!

“This is just a massive boost to my family. I’ll keep working for now, but I’ll be able to look after everyone.

“I just can’t believe it. I’m not sure I can walk at the moment. My whole body is shaking.”

Her winning entry was purchased at Nextra Fraser Gateway Newsagency, Shop 22-23 Stockland Shopping Centre, 6 Central Avenue, Urraween.

Nextra Fraser Gateway Newsagency owner Steven Chow said it was the outlet’s second division one win during the past week.

“We had a division one winning syndicate in Weekday Windfall last Wednesday – six days before this one,” he said.

“Everyone is just so excited! It means we’ve had seven division one wins in the three and a half years I’ve had the outlet.

“From everyone in the team, a big congratulations to our latest winner. I hope we can sell more division one winning entries so others get to achieve their dreams too.”
