Have fun and stay safe this New Year’s Eve

Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services wish everyone a safe and happy New Year.

Commander Danny Bacon said, “It’s been a challenging year and one I’m sure people would like to see behind them. For those who will be farewelling 2021 at one of the many organised events or at private parties, we ask you: please consider others and get home safely.”

Police will be out in force, patrolling licensed venues, party points and hotspots across the Territory, and anyone who gets behind the wheel can reasonably expect to be subject to a random breath test, drug test or both.

“We cannot say it often enough – plan ahead how you will get home. Arrange your Sober Bob now.”

Those celebrating at the Darwin Waterfront will see the Mounted Unit as well as foot patrols, while out on Darwin Harbour the Water Police Section will be looking after compliance and the marine exclusion zones.

“We’re expecting New Year’s Eve to be ‘Instagood’. We’re looking forward to seeing lots of smiling faces and people enjoying themselves. Stay safe and Happy New Year!”
