Have your say on Ivanhoe Estate development

The Department of Planning and Environment is calling for community feedback on plans to redevelop the Ivanhoe Estate in Macquarie Park.

The Department’s Executive Director of Key Sites & Industry Assessments, Anthea Sargeant, said community input is a vital part of the planning process and encouraged everyone to have their say on the Response to Submissions (RTS) which is on public exhibition now until 19 June 2019.

The RTS relates to the overall concept proposal for a mixed-housing development to include:

  • increasing social housing dwellings from 259 to 950 over the life of the project;
  • providing at least 128 new affordable housing dwellings; and
  • delivering new support services and public facilities.

Ms Sargeant said the Department is also seeking community feedback on the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for Stage 1 construction work at the site, also on exhibition until 19 June 2019.

“This first stage of the project would comprise 740 total dwellings, including 259 social homes, and a childcare centre.

“The Department wants to hear the community’s views on both the Response to Submissions for the concept proposal and the EIS for stage one construction.

“Community input is essential to help us make a thorough and rigorous assessment and ensure potential impacts are fully considered.

“People can also sign up on the Department’s Planning Portal website for regular project updates.

“Once the exhibition closes, the Department will consider all community submissions received, along with feedback from other government agencies and councils.”
