Have your say on new West Gosford private hospital

The Department of Planning, Industry and Environment is encouraging the local community to have their say on the proposed $172 million Northside Private Hospital in West Gosford.

Executive Director of Regions, Industry and Key Sites, Anthea Sargeant, said the concept proposal for the corner of Faunce Street West and Racecourse Road includes two building envelopes ranging in height to be developed over two stages.

“The first stage of development includes the demolition of existing buildings, bulk earth works, infrastructure and services, vehicle access and carparking, landscaping works and construction of the main building on Faunce Street West,” Ms Sargeant said.

“The detailed proposal for the second stage (the building along Racecourse Road), and any internal fit out of the main building, will be subject to future development applications.

“Community input is essential to help us make a thorough and rigorous assessment and ensure potential impacts are fully considered.”

The proposed hospital will consist of in-patient units, GP clinics, radiology and pathology rooms, an intensive care unit, operating theatres and ancillary retail. The basement levels will consist of parking, services and loading dock.

If approved, the proposal is predicted to create more than 2200 constructions jobs and approximately 460 full-time operational jobs once completed.

Once the exhibition concludes, the proponent will be required to address all issues raised by the community in its Response to Submissions Report before the Department undertakes a rigorous merit-based assessment of the proposal.
