Have Your Say Townsville proves popular

Townsville residents have embraced a community consultation platform that is giving them a better way to communicate with Townsville City Council.

Have Your Say Townsville, which celebrates six months of operation this week, gives people an easy online platform to provide feedback to Council and engage with a range of projects.

Cultural and Community Development Committee chairperson, Cr Colleen Doyle, said thousands of residents had visited the website since it went online.

“Have Your Say Townsville was launched six months ago and more and more people are using it to engage with Council,” Cr Doyle said.

“More than 80,000 people have visited the site and 2,000 people have registered to have their say on Council’s consultation engagements.

“Seventy-three projects have been created for public feedback and Have Your Say Townsville has helped Council develop policies and strategies.”

The site has proved popular – almost 2000 people viewed Council’s Recreational Vehicle Strategy, 1600 looked at the Ross River Dam recreational and commercial use plan and 1200 clicked on the Riverway Splash Park engagement.

Current Have Your Say Townsville projects include the Magpies Park renewal, the Murray Pump Track and the playground renewal at Cambridge Park.

Cr Doyle said the website is an important link between Council and the community.

“Council invests a lot of time and effort into communicating with residents and this site is a key part of our strategy,” she said.

“This platform gives people a chance to connect with Council and help shape the future of the city.”
